IELTS - International English Language Testing System

1. What is IELTS?

IELTS is a test of English language proficiency. It is a method of assessing the English language used by non-English speakers who want to study, train or work using the English language. IELTS tests either general language skills or academic language skills.· Academic is suitable for candidates planning to undertake higher education study or who are seeking professional registration. · General Training is suitable for candidates planning to undertake non-academic training or work experience, or for immigration purposes. 2. Will I need to do an IELTS test?

You may need to do an IELTS test. To find out if you do, you need to contact the international applications section of the education institution you wish to apply to. Contact information can be found on individual education institutions' websites.

3. What IELTS score will I need to get?

It is the decision of the education institution you wish to apply to. It is advisable to contact the education institution directly to confirm IELTS scores required. Information on IELTS test scores required may be found on individual education institutions' websites.

4. Where can I sit the IELTS test?

You can sit the IELTS test in a test centre in the UK or overseas, there are currently 300 test centres in over 120 countries. To search for a test centre, please click on 'IELTS Test Centres in Your Region' on the website www.ielts.org. You then need to contact the test centre for details of the next test and for an application form.
